PULP RIOT’S LIQUID DEMIS! TIPS & TRICKS!
Lets get down to business!
(PULP RIOT LIQUID DEMIS HAVE SINCE BEEN DISCONTINUED)
Whaddup everybody? Thanks for checking out my blog post!
& if you’re here I can only assume you’re interested in learning about Pulp Riot’s Liquid Demis. Well I’ve got the LD on the LDs.
My salon had been using exclusively Pulp Riot for a couple of years but kept Redken Shades EQ around for root shadows and some toning. Then the day came that they released the LIQUID DEMIS!! I immediately picked up some of every shade. I have been using exclusively Pulp Riot ever since & completely love the liquid demis! I’m gonna tell you all the problems I have run in to using the LDs and some tips to get the perfect look.
Let me start off by saying that the LDs are very true to tone, & level. With SEQ when I was doing a level 6 root shadow quickly at the bowl, I would use a level 4 so that it would look like a level 6. With the LDs I would use a level 6 in that same scenario. The longer the LDs sit the less shear they will be so they will appear darker. When toning level 10 & above blondes, I ALWAYS use 0-0 (clear) & a lot of times 0-0 is over 50% of my formula.
To get the full longevity of LDs process for a full 20 minutes. For some gray coverage apply to dry hair 20 minutes capped under heat & 20 minutes room temp. If you are used to other brands I would recommend always mixing the formula a level or 2 lighter than your desired result until you understand exactly how the LDs deposit.
The LDs are high shine and extremely conditioning. The hair doesn’t feel like it has just been clarified after using the. They are a creamy consistency that can be applied with a brush and a bowl or a toner bottle. They stay where they are applied and do not drip. They have a smell that, some stylists say, takes a while to get used to. Most of my clients love the smell of the LDs. They do not have a chemical type smell.
My go-to’s are:
7-4 to add some copper or to brighten up natural red heads.
9-0 for a nice neutral blonde.
9-11/9-1 to blend gray and cancel out really light orangey tones.
9-2 with 0-0 makes a nice white blonde on hair with very pale yellow tones.
9-3 nice bright golden butter blonde.
5-8 beautiful rich root shadow.
7-8 warm caramel highlights.
8-2 cancel warm tones, over tone level 9s.
3-2 cool toned almost black glaze.
9-03 natural bright blonde, not too ashy, beige blonde.
I love to use the liquid demis to seal the cuticle & restore the hairs pH to the proper level for maximum health, shine, and tone retention. They are perfect for filling the hair during a color correction, or as a temporary in between color during multiple color correcting sessions. I normally process on damp hair but I will process on dry hair for maximum longevity, and coverage. The work well for refreshing the ends on a color retouch client.
Any thing else you wanna know? Leave a comment & I will get back to you asap! Also if you have used the LDs before comment your favorite formulas! I’d love to hear them!
